Down beneath the crust so low,
Where the waves of earthquakes go,
Lies a line we all revere,
It's called the grand MOHO.
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
Discovered by a clever mind,
In the depths, it's well-defined,
Seismic waves, they bend and steer,
Right ‘round the MOHO line.
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
Twixt the crust and mantle's embrace,
A boundary we can't replace,
So here's to science, loud and clear,
A cheer to the MOHO’s place.
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
We sing our song of science now,
To honor Earth's internal might,
With friends and laughter, far and near,
A tip to the MOHO tonight.
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
Oh, ho, it’s the MOHO,
Let’s drink another beer!
I was unable to extend our GeoWorld Scotland tour to take in the Shetlands Islands, so I requested that my shanty-style song be sung when the attendees saw the MOHO. I'll definitely be singing and drinking when I eventually see it, oh ho!
