Deep and Current

Deep and Current

I ride the tectonic plate,
and travel where it wants,
What it may hit,
It's nobody's fault.

Magma seethes below
and finds new veins to course.
Vents express their anger
and searing heat cauterizes all.

Here atop the crust,
the Earth cooled its rage
and now stands in peace
to look upon the Sun and Moon.

Earth rage, Earth cries, Earth shudders
Earth shapes, Earth binds, Earth flows,
Earth blooms, Earth smells, Earth grows
yet we chase mind stuff and thoughts.

When my life matter ceases to be
this Earth will take me Deep and Current.

Yoga in Nature

I unfurl my mat onto the green vale, releasing all my strife and woe.
My feet nestle, explore and find root.
A cool breeze, warm sun, bird song and earth smells visit, making me smile.
I breath deeply and become still.
My practice begins, my wandering ceases, and the wonder arrives.

NYC Commuter

Sun crests over Brooklyn
Daily drone wheels in
Mother city gleems in majesty
Street dweller tosses can.

Sun crests over Brooklyn
Drone takes pause to listen
Afternoon takes deep yawn
Bird lies dead on path.

Sun crests over Brooklyn
Drone returns back home
Mother city powers up
Night cats begin to sing.

Five Little Poems

Last breath of Winter
Warm rays challenge the snow piles.
Dandelion smiles.

Rushing through a field
I turn to look, and fall.
Hard edge of tombstone.

As the day unravels
Thoughts fly and fill each space.
Nearby boulder yawns.

Chickadee darts about,
Ants evade all the droplets.
Isn't Spring refreshing?

Body stretches Mind
Mind stretches Body.
Yoga mat unfurls

Condolence

Memories will fade,
But the heart-connection remains.

Draw strength and courage from this.

In this very moment, reach out with your heart.
And commune with one who has departed.

Relax, breathe and smile in this knowing.

Only a Glimpse

If you make yourself too small,
No one will see.

If you hide yourself too well,
No one can find.

If you give nothing of yourself,
What will you have?

If you want goodness in life,
Then be that goodness.

If you want meaning from life,
Then create that meaning.

There is power and greatness within,
beyond your imagination.
Accept that, and surrender into it.

No longer fear the mirror.

Arrival Meditation

Arrival Meditation

Deep currents stir.
Distant waves break.
What lies beyond, draws near.
Bearing endless gifts.

I'm lost in a dream
Chasing desires
Escaping fears
Clinging to small things.

The knock at the door
Brings warm rays and peace.
I'm naked and ashamed.
Afraid to accept.

Masks fall away, as
The child re-awakens.
A smile fills the room
My heart opens wide.

Nowhere to go
Nothing to get
Each breath relaxes
Each moment lingers.

I dwell in the light
I rest in my self
I now know the secret
The smile is my own.
